Who We Are
Lott's Community Garden, located near Monticello, provides 15,000 pounds of fresh produce to Second Harvest food bank each year. Volunteers prepare the soil, plant the crops, harvest the crops, weed and maintain the field. Lott's Community Garden volunteer opportunities are almost exclusively on Saturday mornings.
What We Do
Sweet potatoes, kale, turnips and other healthy greens and crops are grown each year at Lott's Community Garden, and donated to the food bank. Volunteers handle all aspects of the garden's maintenance, planting and crop harvesting. Lott's is located about 20 minutes east of Tallahassee near Monticello. Because of the location, Second Harvest will award an additional hour of volunteer service to each volunteer for their travel. For example, if you work an 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM shift, you will be awarded 4 hours of volunteer service.
This is a great family activity, and is appropriate for small children with adult supervision. Work gloves and appropriate tools will be provided on-site, but please feel free to bring your own. All volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes.
Note: Second Harvest and Lott's Community Garden are not responsible for tools damaged or lost on-site.
